Blender export: new skin shader.

A month ago, Manuel sent me a skin shader created by Roberto Olivetti. However, I didn't notice his email at the time. But finally it is here! MH characters imported into Blender with the MHX format now have a professional-quality shader.

I had some trouble to get SSS look good. This is either because some setting isn't imported correctly (though a quick inspection did not reveal anything), or because of some problem with my light setut. The picture was rendered without SSS.

  1. Hello Thomas...which version of Blender are you using that imports MHX? Is it over at http://www.graphicall.org? Great work, btw.

  2. The import script only works in 2.49b. It does not work in earlier versions, due to a bug in the python API. Nor does it work in 2.5, because the new API is very different; e.g., there is no Blender module. Since the MHX format reflects the python API, some modifications will probably be necessary.

You can get an MHX file into Blender 2.5 by importing it to 2.49b and saving it as a blend file. However, I think that you will lose information about driven keys in that process.
