This is just a quick announcement that nightly builds for windows and linux will be down over the weekend while I migrate the build machines to the new virtualization server. With some luck the builds will start to update properly again on monday at the latest.
EDIT: Nightlies work on my side now, but we seem to have run into the quota roof on tuxfamily. I'm not sure how to proceed with this.
Wouldn't the quota roof not be a problem if more downloaders took advantage of the incremental update system started last summer? I've been using that for months and on a slow Internet connection it's great. Only problem is when the binary file (in Linux anyway) gets behind the updates to the other files - somehow the binary is not updated. Then I have to download a new nightly build and transfer that binary into the now large (500 MB) updated folder.
ReplyDeletePromoting the incremental updates rather than nightlies would seem to go a long way toward coming under quota. Periodic new .7z files would make the incremental downloads easier to begin for new converts from nightlies.
Very likely. Looking at download stats, lots of people kept downloading the nightlies even when we were discussing/promoting the update system though. We would probably have to stop publishing nightlies altogether in order to force users over to the update system. It's definitely a thing that could be discussed.
ReplyDeleteMaybe a hybrid method would be good, downloading a nightly exe build, and updating the other files with svn.
